The Willowbrook History Vineyard grows the historic Mission grape, which was brought by the Spanish to the ‘New World’ in the 1500s and was the workhorse grape of the first California wine industry.
The Garden is designed to help the community connect to L.A.'s rich urban landscape history, as well as to other communities in the city and throughout the world that grow grapes and especially the historic Mission grape. The Willowbrook History Vineyard can also spur curiosity in the natural sciences and provide valuable lessons in viticulture, viniculture and ethnobiology.
