Community residents helped to establish this garden totaling almost five acres in size. The Lower Garden, where our member plots are, consists of 35 beds. The upper portion is named Lavender Hill which is our communal farm area along with an orchard containing about 100 fruit bearing trees.

The Solano Canyon Community Garden occupies the former site of the Solano Avenue Elementary School, which was torn down in 1935 shortly after construction of the Pasadena Freeway. The freeway runs alongside—and under—the garden.  Part of the orchard is actually situated above the second tunnel of the northbound lane of the 101.

Volunteer days are the first Saturday of the month from 9-11am.
