The Burbank Community Garden is a place to embrace and celebrate the living diversity of our planet and improve the care of it. It is a place to inspire regeneration and generosity; increase the love and respect among a brilliant, diverse community of goofball mismatched gardening friends; and help grow a joyous, fertile, and livable world.
We have 2 locations:
Chandler Blvd at Pass Ave, opening May 2022.
Hollywood Way at Clark Ave, opening Summer 2023.
Garden history and description
Before Spanish and European colonization, the water sources of the San Fernando Valley provided village sites to first nation people under tribal or Spanish names: Tongva, Kizh, Chumash, Gabrielino. The Chandler/Pass garden site sits on the historic Whitnall Highway, a never-completed roadway planned in 1927 to connect Hollywood with the Valley.
The 12,000 sq ft vacant lot located on the SW corner of Pass Avenue and Chandler Boulevard is now owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), leased to the City of Burbank, and operated by local volunteers under the coordination of the Los Angeles Community Garden Council.
